Hyrule Knights Rules

This is version 3.0, updated as of December 10, 2015.

We've now combined our 3 rules pages into one, concise and to-the-point rules page on our most important rules. Before, we had a lot of fluff in here.

We have become a very strong war clan and these rules help to ensure that we maintain a healthy and thriving clan!  We just want everyone on the same page.

Rule #1

Always Read New Inbox Messages! ALWAYS!

This is one of our most important rules, as we often send out important information in the form of clan messages.  We send messages about Caller links, optional war sign-ups, strategy, news, and other important information. If you can, set your notifications on for Clash of Clans to get notified outside of the game when a new message is written (we won't spam you with them, MAYBE once every 2 days).  Also you will see a little read number by your inbox in game, so just make sure to be looking for those.  And if we say to visit a link, it's usually pretty important so please do so!

Rule #2

Use BOTH Attacks in War

We need to attack in order to win, it's pretty simple.  Not attacking puts the clan at a huge disadvantage, as wars often come down to the wire, and missed attacks kill us.  We realize not everyone is perfect, you might forget, which is why we allow 3 missed attacks in your past 4 wars, any more and you're out!  Things happen, but we want you to use both attacks if you are in a war.  Missing attacks is one of the biggest signs of inactivity, and we may want someone who is more active.  Plus it's not hard... 2 attacks in 24 hours... that's barely anything considering you only have to war twice a week.  If you cannot be in a war for whatever reason, this leads to our next rule...

Rule #3

Opting Out of Wars and War Start Times

War searches start every Tuesday (Wed-Thurs war) and on Friday (Sat-Sun war) with Optional war searches starting on Sunday (Mon-Tues war) unless otherwise noted.  (Optionals talked about in Rule #7).  If you cannot be in an upcoming war or if you know you'll be gone in the near future, please let us know.  We will tell you to opt out, but don't just opt out without telling anyone.  Tell us so we know and can work around it.  Ideally we won't kick you but if we need to kick you for 50, we will have to.  You will be able to come back right away when you get back,  by emailing americaguy9@yahoo.com when you get back!  Don't just opt out either, because you don't feel like warring.  COMMUNICATION IS KEY TO A STRONG CLAN!

Rule #4

Do Not Rush Your Base

In order to stay in this clan, you must max everything you can before you upgrade your TH.  "Rushing" your base or upgrading your TH too early will SEVERELY hurt our clan in war matchups as we will get matched against harder clans, but you will not have the tools to contribute if your heroes, troops, and walls are not where they should be.  This means you must max your heroes before upgrading to the next TH.

A few weeks before you get close to maxing your base, talk in clan chat and tell a leader you are close to upgrading.  We will provide you with an upgrade strategy to better help you and the clan adapt as you transition to your new TH.  It will likely involve focusing on elixir upgrades, DE upgrades, heroes and walls first BEFORE defenses, as everyone who actually knows this game knows that offense is VASTLY more important than defense in Clash.

Rule #5

Always Tell Clan Chat Before Attacking in War

Before every attack in war, you are required to write in clan chat which base number you are attacking soon.  Wait about 30 seconds to 1 minute at least before going in, once you tell us.  There are a number of reasons for this:

  • We might need you to attack a different base to help us ensure victory.

  • You might be hitting a base someone claimed.

  • You might be hitting a base someone else was gearing for (we can settle who gets to take it in clan chat).

  • We can give advice if needed.

  • We can view your attack live.

Even if you are attacking your claimed base (Rule #6 below), you still need to say "Attacking (base number) in 2 minutes".  If you have any questions about who to attack, ask a leader or elder.

Rule #6

Claiming Bases and using Clash Caller

Our clan uses Clash Caller to claim bases. This has helped our clan A LOT in being able to train for specific bases and know you will be able to attack 1 base that you want to.  Here is the summary on our rules for claiming bases and using Clash Caller:

  1. After we are matched against a clan in war, we will send a clan message with a link to that war's specific Clash Caller page. (Optional wars use signups)

  2. Visit the link, claim ONE base that you think you can 3 star (TH7-9).  If the one you want is already claimed, pick a different one or talk to the person who claimed it.

  3. Claims only last for the first 6 hours of war. If you claim a base on Clash Caller and you don't attack it in the first 6 hours, anyone can hit it.

  4. Once a claimed base is hit by the claimee, anyone can attack it.

  5. For your first attack, please attack a base within your range (+3 or -5) and please attack your same TH level.  Ask a leader if you have an inquiry.

  6. For your second attack, please ask in clan chat.  Most of the time you will be able to attack the base you want, but we may ask you to go higher or lower than normal to help ensure a victory.

  7. When in doubt, attack lower.  Ask a leader, but we prefer you go lower rather than higher.  If you are #14 and you think you have the best shot against #20, ask a leader first, but the most likely answer will be yes.

  8. Even if you are attacking your claimed base, tell us in clan chat first before attacking.  Say it and wait 30 seconds at least JUST in case we need to get your attention before you attack.

Rule #7

Optional Wars (Mon-Tuesday)

Every Sunday afternoon, we start searching for what we call "Optional Wars" that will take place on Monday-Tuesday.  After we are matched up with a clan on Friday, we will send out a link to a sign-up page to join that week's optional war. You are not required to join and if you do not sign up, you will not be included in that war.  Optional wars usually involve 10-20 people, so each attack is more important than in regular wars.  There are a few requirements in order to join:

  • You MUST use both attacks in these wars.  Because each attack is more important due to having less people, it is that much more important that you attack.

  • If you are TH9+ you must have both your heroes available for your attacks.  If you are TH8 or lower, you must have your king available.  If you are upgrading a hero and they won't be available for both attacks, don't sign up.

  • Communication is even more important in these wars.  We need to coordinate one our best strategy to win, so talk to us in game or join our Kik group (I'll talk about that at the end) so we can go over the best way to win.

Rule #8

TH7 and TH8, Attack Early in Wars

If you are TH7 or TH8, PLEASE try your best to use both attacks as early as you can.  Obviously if you cannot due to work, school, etc. that's ok.  But it really benefits the clan if our lower people attack early (preferable both times) so all their attacks count and our higher people don't have to go lower.

As for TH9+, please DO NOT wait until the end of war to do both of your attacks.  Try to use 1 in the first 12 hours and your second in the last 12 hours.  It really hurts to clan when you don't attack or wait until the last couple of hours to do both of your attacks.

Rule #9

When to Upgrade Your Heroes

In order to only miss one of the two main wars, please upgrade your heroes after 2 early attacks in a war.  By doing this, your hero will be ready a week later with lots of time left in that war to use your hero.  If you love optional wars, upgrade your hero after 2 early attacks in an optional war, and you can participate in every optional war if you wish!

Rule #10

Donating and Requesting Requirements

Here are some rules as far as donating and requesting during wars:

  • During war days, please specify FW (for war request) or NFW (not for war request).

  • Only request for war if you have a shield or you will be attacking before you log off so your donated troops don't get killed out of war.

  • If someone has a for war request, only donated EXACTLY what they ask for and at max level.  We have the perk where your troops jump a level while donating, so if someone wants a max golem and yours are level 4, you can donate yours.

  • Help contribute to war clan castles!  If you have troops that are maxxed or will be maxxed due to the perk, we want you to help out.  If you receive, we ask that you give.  Don't expect the same few people to do it all the time.

Here are some rules as far as donating and requesting outside of wars:

  • We do not have an official number of requirements you need to donate each league.

  • However, if you have extremely low donations often, we will assume you are not very active and may look to replace an inactive person.

  • Troops do NOT have to be max.  If someone requests NFW, you can give any level troop (this helps TH7s-8s contribute, as they cannot in war situations).

  • If your request is NFW, you must accept at least archers.  Don't be mad if you ask for hogs outside of war and you get archers.

  • If your request is NFW, you must accept any DE spell.

  • If you want to practice for war or are pushing trophies and want specific troops, ask in clan chat first if anyone has those troops to give.  If so, THEN you can request those troops from that person.

  • Same goes for DE spell request if you are practicing for war or pushing.  Ask in clan chat first, then request if someone can give.

Rule #11 (Not required but recommended)

Join Our Kik Group and Post an Intro on our Forums!

About half of the clan uses Kik as a way to communicate outside of the game.  In there, we talk about strategies, wars, CoC, and life!  If you'd like to join that group, post your Kik username in clan chat and someone will add you!

One thing we want every member in our family of clans to do is to register on our forums at tinyurl.com/hknights and then post an introduction about yourself in the Introduce Yourself thread (tinyurl.com/hyrulepeople).  You can also access the forum by clicking on the Forum tab at the top right of the page!

We want you to post an introduction, that way we can get to know each other more and hopefully put a face with your name in game!  Even though a lot of us have posted a picture of ourselves, we understand if you don't want to.  You are not required to post a picture, but we highly encourage it!  You are required to post a little intro about yourself even if it is just text.  Tell us your name, your hobbies, your interests, etc.  You don't have to get too personal if you are concerned about your privacy (no one will see these but some clan members).

"I have read all 11 rules and will follow them.  These rules are all common sense to me and I understand that by following them, I am not only making the Clash of Clans experience better for myself, but for the other 49 people in my clan!  I will not rush my base, I will help my clan mates, and follow these very simple rules."

(comment as your in-game name, and just make up a fake email address, we don't need it.  We'll add it to the green list.)
